Whether you're looking to hire a venue for a one-off private event, regular community activities, or somewhere fully equipped to get some work done, The Africa Centre offers several affordable options.
Located in Southwark, home to the city’s largest Black African community, The Africa Centre's new flagship building showcases the best of Africa-inspired designs and fosters a sense of pride in African heritage.
The new Africa Centre is a world apart from the dull 1960s former office building that architects Freehaus and interior designer Tola Ojuolape have beautifully transformed into the new home for contemporary African culture and heritage in London.
The ground floor houses the highly popular Pan-African restaurant operated by Tatale, the Centre's food and beverage contractor. Available for hire are the first, second, and third floors, a bar and lounge space, an art gallery, and a multi-purpose event space respectively.
Malangatana
A neatly decorated and contemporary Afrocentric bar and lounge space suitable for various activities such as live music, networking, and social events.
This welcoming and compact but versatile event space boasts some of the most vivid and authentic African design elements, thanks to architects Freehaus and interior designer Tola Ojuolape. The decor, as Ojuolape explains, is “rooted in the continent’s sense of place through craftsmanship, materiality, tactility, and the warmth it evokes.” Textiles, patterns, tropical plants, wood furniture, and art have been carefully utilized to express the vastness and creativity of Africa.
This space is suitable for events such as live DJ/band, product launches, award ceremonies, receptions, networking, and other work or social interactions.
