Harrow School is considered one of the most prestigious boys boarding schools in the world. The School is situated in over 300 acres of beautiful grounds in north west London, just 15 minutes on the tube from Baker Street and celebrated its 450 year anniversary in 2022. It also has ample parking.

Notable alumni include seven former British Prime Ministers, including Winston Churchill, the actor Benedict Cumberbatch, musician James Blunt, screenwriter and film director Richard Curtis, poet Lord Byron, five monarchs including King Hussein of Jordan, the first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, military commanders including Sir Peter de la Billiere, and current England rugby union players Billy Vunipola and Maro Itoje. Scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone were shot at Harrow School.

Speech Room

Speech Room is the main assembly hall for Harrow School. Built in 1871, it is a grand building that can be used for dramatic effect for any style of event. This Globe style venue can seat 550 guests. This is a suitable capacity for a conference or performance style of event. Speech Room's upper tiers are fixed and the chairs remain within the space. The venue has an option to lay a steel deck stage to extend the floor capacity.

Existing Furniture

Speech Room is made up of eight tiered seated areas. The maximum capacity within the venue is 550 seated. Should your numbers be lower then 550, tiers can be secured off to ensure guests use designated areas.

Stage Solution Option

Speech Room offers a stage solution for the Central Orchestra Pit in the heart of the venue. This stage creates a flat surface suitable for seated dinners up to 120 guests. The stage does not impact the theatre style seating capacity of 550. Installation of the stage is not included within Speech Room hire fees. Please speak to a member of the events team for a quotation.

Old Harrovian Room

The Old Harrovian Room is located within Harrow School’s War Memorial Building. The venue is situated on the first floor of this beautiful building, entered via a set of sweeping staircases. There are numerous rooms available in the building to ensure an event flows smoothly and offer plenty of photo opportunities. The Old Harrovian Room can offer guests a unique backdrop for a board meeting, standing reception or medium sized dinner. The walls of this room are surrounded by the portraits of Harrow School’s former head masters, beautiful wooden floors and large bay windows providing plenty of natural light.

Existing Furniture & Dimensions

Old Harrovian Room is rectangular in shape and offers a great blank canvas for you to bring your event to life. All furniture within the venue can be moved, except the baby grand piano which remains a permanent feature.

Included within the hire of the Old Harrovian Room is all existing furniture; a selection of blue and gold chairs, coffee style tables, a lectern, and a baby grand piano. For additional hire fees, the room can be cleared and unique equipment and alternative furniture can be hired in. Speak to the team for suppliers.

Fourth Form Room

The Fourth Form Room is the spiritual heart of Harrow School. The original classroom dates back to 1615 and is where Harrow School first opened its doors. This venue is only available for the most select of events. Surround yourself with our famous Alumni, also known as the 'Giants of Old'. The Fourth Form Room is located within the Old Schools building.

Existing Furniture & Dimensions

All furniture in the Fourth Form Room is fixed and has been for nearly 400 years. The interior is extremely fragile, so it is only possible to achieve the layouts provided below. A dining table for 12 guests can be located in the centre of this room.

AV and Power Supply

The venue itself has no power supply; all power and AV is to be sourced externally. Speak to our team for a suppliers list and options.

History

Your guests will be completely immersed and surrounded by the hand-drawn graffiti of Harrow School's famous ‘Giants of Old’. Where else can you experience a special occasion surrounded by the autographs of Winston Churchill, Lord Byron, Sheridan and Peel.

The Fourth Form Room is most recently recognised as the classroom from the 'Wingardium Leviosa' scene in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'.

Alex Fitch Room

Above a fireplace in a room at Harrow School a light has shone on the portrait of a young man in uniform night and day, for nearly 100 years. When 19-year-old 2nd Lieutenant Alex Fitch was killed in northern France in September 1918 his parents were determined their only son would be remembered and donated the beautiful contents of the Alex Fitch Room in his memory. This is the most poignant room at Harrow School. Located in the War Memorial Building.

This beautiful room is available to hire in the school holiday period for photoshoots, exclusive dinners and meetings.

Existing Furniture & Dimensions

The venue includes a large solid dining table placed in the centre of the room. This seats up to 20 guests on the existing antique wooden chairs. Due to its age, all furniture currently in the Alex Fitch Room must stay in position for events.

AV Capabilities

The Alex Fitch Room has a beautiful chandelier but no other lighting or a direct power supply. We suggest external suppliers or battery powered candles are used to really bring your event to life. Please discuss your requirements with a member of the events team.

History of the venue

Fitch had been a pupil at Harrow School and was one of 644 Old Harrovians killed in the Great War.

The Alex Fitch Room is full of unique and historical features. Everything in the room is older than the building itself.

Panelling from the Elizabethan period clads the walls and the fireplace dates from the reign of Henry V. The floor is made of decking from H.M.S.Vincent, the battleship which served during the reign of George III. The furniture to the exterior of the room is from the reign of James I, as is the main dining table.

West Street Meeting Room

The West Street Meeting Room is located on the top corner of West Street, Harrow on the Hill. This offers delegates a prime location when hosting meetings in the venue. The room faces the High Street and has drapes in the window to ensure the room remains private once your meeting begins.

The West Street Meeting Room is set up boardroom style. The venue can seat up to 20 guests for a meeting. It also has an ‘overspill’ area for refreshments and catering.

Hill Meeting Room

The Hill Meeting Room is located on High Street directly at the top of the Hill. This offers customers a prime location when hosting meetings in the venue. The room is also very quiet and tucked away from the main street. This particular venue offers a beautiful courtyard overlooking the Hill. The room itself is configured in a boardroom style set up.

The Hill Meeting Room is set up Boardroom style. The tables are placed in a square with 12 seats surrounding it. Should you require an alternative set up to this please speak to a member of the Events Team to arrange this.

The Ryan Theatre

Harrow Schools Ryan Theatre is a modern production space located in the heart of Harrow on the Hill. The theatre plays host to wonderful productions across the year, both with the Harrow Boys and external lets. The Ryan Theatre has a maximum capacity of 359 (which includes Wheelchair access) and is made up of two levels; the Stalls and Circle. The venue includes four dressing rooms and rehersal studios if required. The hire is based on a 12 hour day and can be hired across multiple days. Please ask a member of the team for the Technical Speicification and User Guidlines should you wish to book and event with us.

Lighting and Sound

The Ryan Theatre has a fully staffed Technical Team who work with you every step of the way. In planning and preperation for your show, you and your technical team will have regular meetings to ensure your production runs smoothly. Our Tehcnical support can assist in Lighting, Rigging and Sound.

Rehearsal Space

Harrow School has a variety of spaces which lend themselves for rehearsals. Whether you are seeking a musical, drama or classroom space the School has a huge portfolio of venues available. Rehearsal spaces can also be added to your theatre booking with us, should you require over flow space or area for pre rehearsals, this is possible.

Drama ‘Black’ & ‘White’ Room

The Ryan Theatre has two rehearsal venues names the ‘White’ and ‘Black’ Rehearsal Space. Both Venues have their own entrance and are also inter- linked. The rooms are next to the theatre so offers a perfect solution for rehearsals or VIP receptions pre/post shows.

Music Schools

Music School is located on Football Lane, Harrow on the Hill. The venue has a collection of rooms suitable for 1-2-1 lessons, rehearsals and musical events. The Space has its own unique entrance and disabled access.

Field House Club

The Field House Club is a fully licensed club house used for the School’s cricket fixtures. The venue itself has a main dining room, a small bar area, a lounge and a balcony overlooking the first team’s Cricket Pitch. This venue is perfect for daytime meetings and intimate dinners/lunches. The walls and display cases are full of interesting items of Harrovian and cricketing memorabilia; a tangible display of the School’s distinguished cricketing past. The Field House Club was created to celebrate Harrow’s cricket traditions, showcasing Harrow Vs Eton as the longest standing cricket fixture in the world, playing annually at Lords Cricket Ground since 1805.

Field House Club comes complete with all the furniture required for a meeting or dinner for up to 12 guests. All furniture is classically styled or antique.

The existing antique Victorian dining table can seat 12 for dinner. If you wish to have larger numbers, a second table can be hired in to increase the capacity to 20, costs do apply.

Cricket Pavilions

Harrow School has a portfolio of three stunning cricket pavilions. The spaces offer guests wonderful indoor and outdoor options, suitable for a variety of events including daytime meetings, away days, cricket matches or family celebrations.

The Alcock Pavilion

The Alcock Pavilion is located on Whitmore Road and has its own exclusive access. The venue is intimate and overlooks three cricket pitches. The space is very bright and can host indoor and outdoor activities. This venue also includes a selection of white chairs and tables.

Richardson Pavilion

The Richardson Pavilion is located at the bottom of West Street, Harrow on the Hill. This venue has its own exclusive access and offers on street parking. The space is very barn rustic in its style and includes large wooden benches and wonderful outdoor space.

The Club House

The Club House is a fully licensed facility primarily used by the School’s Golf, Tennis and Angling Clubs. The venue has a main dining room, kitchen area and a terrace overlooking Harrow School’s stunning nine-hole golf course. This is the perfect location for day time meetings, private celebrations, lunches and workshops.

The Club House hosts 4 tables seating 8 guests each, with a maximum capacity of 32 guests. The venue also includes an outside terrace which is perfect for a drinks reception or al-fresco dining on our outdoor tables overlooking the vast golf course and lake.

This venue can host up to 32 for a standing reception, all tables can be removed or left in situ to create the ideal space for your event.

AV Equipment

A portable sound system is available for speeches or background music. The Club House does not include a Laptop or Projector but these are available upon request. Please speak to a member of the team to discuss your requirements.

Disabled Access

The Club House is a fully accessible venue for all visitors. There are designated disabled parking spaces, wheelchair access and a disabled toilet included within the space.

Exam Hall

The Butler Centre at is a grand Grade Listed building offering a large scale exam hall for events, tuition and workshops. The space comes equipped with 90 desks and chairs and can be adapted to suit social distancing requirements. It is accessed via three flights of historical staircase, that show the imprints of use of times gone by. Please note, there is no lift access to the space.

Classroom

Harrow School offers clients a wide selection of classroom for hire. There are a collection of modern and traditional blocks available. Whether you are seeking a single classroom or multiple classrooms, this is possible. Classrooms are only available to hire during the School holiday periods.
