Bishopsgate Institute is a historic and atmospheric location for unique private and corporate events.

Located just two minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street Station, our flexible spaces could be the perfect venue for your London wedding, conference, meeting, rehearsal or film shoot.

Bishopsgate Institute is a charity. By hiring one of our spaces, you are helping us take care of our beautiful building and historic archives.

Our Grade II* listed building features the wood-panelled Victorian Library, the grand Great Hall, fully equipped meeting and rehearsal rooms, and unique period details throughout.

The Great Hall

Welcome your guests onto our Great Hall’s parquet floor and dance the night away.

For decades, the Great Hall has played host to galas, lectures, conferences, and performances. The space is complete with a stage, lighting rig and full AV capabilities, and is perfect for large receptions and special occasions.

The Upper Hall

Originally the Ladies’ Reading Room for the Library, the Upper Hall is a versatile space full of natural light.

A blank canvas, the space can be configured in a variety of ways, and is often used in conjunction with the Great Hall.

The Library

True to the building’s historical and cultural heritage, the Library has hosted generations of enquiring minds.

Today, the Library houses a collection of rare reference materials and is home to one of the UK’s most subversive archives. Stepping into the polished wooden interior feels warm and welcoming, and the Library is an ideal space for guests to mingle.

The Courtyard Room

The Courtyard Room is named for its hidden outdoor space. A popular choice for meetings and workshops, it includes an in-built screen and ample seating space.

The Studio

The Studio, complete with sprung wooden floors and a mirrored wall, is an ideal rehearsal venue.

The space is perfect for auditions, read-throughs and production meetings.

The Goss Room and the Studio are also available as add-on spaces when you hire the Courtyard Room.

The Goss Room

The Goss Room is a bright and modern setting for a variety of functions, from rehearsals to performance recitals and examinations.

The Boardroom

The Boardroom has been the meeting place for the Institute’s trustees since the end of the 19th century. Located at the top of a sweeping staircase, the Boardroom contains many original features, including wooden panels, high ceilings, and an ornate fireplace.

Perfect for meetings requiring a sense of occasion, over the years the Boardroom has housed networking events and corporate away days, and has even been used as a filming location.

Pair the Boardroom with two breakout spaces, the Townsend and The Rosebery Room, for exclusive use of the entire wing.

The Townsend Room

Part of the former clerk’s offices, the Townsend Room comes equipped with contemporary AV facilities and is ideal for small meetings, interviews, and training days. It also serves as a break-out space alongside the Boardroom.
