Benares Restaurant & Bar is an award-winning Michelin-starred Indian restaurant nestled in the heart of Mayfair and is one of London’s premier destinations for contemporary fine-dining Indian cuisine.

Named after the ancient spiritual capital of India, Benares seamlessly marries tradition with daring modernity, capturing the essence of India’s diverse culinary landscape. Our menu finds its inspiration in the vibrant street food culture that permeates every corner of the Indian subcontinent.

Benares has 4 private dining rooms, three of which are around the lounge:

The Berkeley Room which seats up to 16 guests, the Sommelier’s Room which seats up to 10 guests and a Chef’s Table overlooking the kitchen which seats up to 8 guests.

Our largest private dining area, the Dover Room seating up to 36 guests is on the other side of the main dining room.

Benares can be hired for exclusive events such as corporate functions, product launches and personal celebrations. Our events and hospitality team helps tailor each event to the needs of the client to ensure an exceptional experience. Benares can accommodate 100 guests for a sit-down dinner and 250 guests for a standing reception.

Berkeley Room

A beautiful private dining room for up to 16 diners.

Backing onto the Sommelier’s Room is the Berkeley Room – separated by a wine wall and latticework panelling.

At the other end of the room is a striking pair of hand-crafted ornamental doors made from Indian wood.

Terracotta walls flanking these doors are complemented by similarly coloured pictures of Benares, the Holy City after which the restaurant is named.

Sommelier’s Table

An absolute must for wine lovers.

Up to 10 diners can enjoy this unique setting where haute Indian cuisine is carefully matched to exquisite wines from around the world.

Sit in our cellar and surround yourself with the world’s finest and rarest of wines whilst our experienced sommelier’s guide you through a master class in wine and Indian food pairing.

Chef’s Table

The Chef’s Table with a large glass window, overlooks the main kitchen.

Diners can watch the team at work and meet the chefs.

This intimate private room holds up to 8 guests.

A La Carte and Tasting menus are available with paired wines.

It’s a private dining experience to remember.

Dover Room

Our largest room accommodates up to 36 diners, one of the largest private dining spaces in Mayfair.

Located at the far end of the restaurant, it is a long room perfect for large groups.

With sepia and paprika coloured prints lining the walls, the simple dark wooden panelled room with white ceiling and sliding doors can also be completely private or opened up to become part of the main restaurant.
